An Edgewater commercial building is slated to be redeveloped to bring housing to its upper floors. Chicago developer Esteep recently bought the three-story building at 5252 N. Broadway and plans to rehab its vacant upper floors into 14 family-sized apartments.
According to Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48th), the ground floor commercial businesses, including the popular Lost Hours coffee shop and Edgewater Pottery, will be retained. The apartments will include 10 two-bedroom, two-bathroom units and four three-bedroom, two-bathroom units, along with 14 bicycle parking spaces.
